Infrastructure organizations face a common challenge: aging assets, growing demand, tighter budgets, and stricter regulatory scrutiny, all at once. Direxyon helps you cut through that complexity and make capital decisions you can defend.
We solve four problems our clients consistently bring to us:
- “We don’t know where the next dollar should go.” Capital is limited, but competing needs, reliability, growth, resilience, asset condition, regulatory compliance, all feel urgent. Direxyon prioritizes projects and interventions across the entire portfolio so every dollar delivers maximum value.
- We can’t see far enough ahead.” Short-term plans miss the long-term consequences of today’s decisions. Direxyon simulates 10, 20, or 30+ year scenarios so you can plan strategically, anticipate future costs, and align investments with your risk and service-level objectives.
- Our expertise lives in spreadsheets and people’s heads.” Critical knowledge is fragmented, undocumented, and at risk of walking out the door. Direxyon transforms that institutional expertise into a decision twin — a living, structured model of your engineering logic, lifecycle strategies, and investment criteria that is documented, auditable, and reusable across your entire organization..
- “We struggle to justify our investment plan.” Boards, regulators, and ratepayers demand evidence, not opinions. Direxyon produces transparent, scenario-based justifications that quantify the risk, cost, and value behind every decision.
The result: better-prioritized portfolios, lower long-term costs, stronger regulatory positions, and a planning process that scales with your organization.
We offer two product tiers so you can match the platform to where your team is today.
Direxyon GO is a streamlined, quick-onboarding option for organizations beginning their Asset Investment Planning journey. Faster to deploy, easier to maintain, designed for teams that want results without a long setup.
Direxyon Enterprise is a high-power modelling environment for advanced teams that need custom logic, rules engines, regulatory frameworks, and deep scenario exploration.
Software built by people who understand your world. Direxyon is grounded in deep asset management expertise — with Bernard Gaudreault, AMP, one of Canada’s pioneers in the field, co-founder of the IAM’s Canadian chapter, and board member of the global Institute of Asset Management, directly supporting our clients. We don’t replace your engineers or planners. We encode what they already know, so the whole organization can use it.
Direxyon has been in business since 2001, more than two decades dedicated to one mission: helping infrastructure organizations make better capital investment decisions.
Over that time, we’ve grown from a Montréal-based modeling specialist into a globally recognized Asset Investment Planning platform, trusted by more than 300 users across utilities, transportation, and public infrastructure. Along the way, both Gartner and Verdantix have named Direxyon a global leader in the AIP category.
Our longevity matters for one practical reason: infrastructure planning horizons span decades, and so should your software partner. Choosing Direxyon means choosing a stable, proven vendor whose product, expertise, and client relationships are built for the long term, just like the assets you manage.
The Platform
A digital twin shows what your infrastructure looks like and how it’s aging. A decision twin goes one step further. It models how your organization actually makes decisions — your maintenance strategies, inspection regimes, rehabilitation and replacement criteria, your risk thresholds and budget constraints — and applies them consistently to every asset. So instead of just seeing condition, you see what to do about it, and why.
It’s the difference between a really good dashboard and an actual decision-making tool.
Every number, every rule, and every recommendation in Direxyon is visible and traceable. When a board member or council member asks “Why this project? Why now? Why this much?”, you have a clear answer.
We don’t ask you to trust a black-box algorithm. That matters when the people on the receiving end of your plan are elected officials, regulators, or shareholders.
Roads, water mains, sewers, stormwater systems, bridges, buildings, parks, transit assets, power lines, transformers, substations, marine structures — most categories of long-lived physical infrastructure. We model individual assets, not averages — because criticality, consequence, and context vary, and so should every decision.
The most common use cases:
- Building a credible, defensible 10-to-20-year capital investment plan — one you can present to a board, a regulator, or a funding body
- Optimizing lifecycle strategies across your portfolio — when to inspect, when to maintain, when to rehabilitate, and when to replace
- Making repair-vs-replace decisions on individual assets, backed by consistent logic rather than individual judgment
- Coordinating interventions across departments and asset classes, so you don’t repave a street and dig it up six months later
- Comparing investment options across different asset categories on a common, risk-adjusted basis
- Quantifying the cost of deferral — what happens to risk, cost, and service levels if this investment gets pushed another two years
- Building the business case for climate resilience, with numbers that hold up under scrutiny
Most asset management systems are designed to answer “What do we own?” and “What condition is it in?” They serve as systems of record for asset inventories, inspections, maintenance history and condition data.
Direxyon serves a different purpose. It is a decision intelligence platform that transforms asset data into lifecycle strategies, long-term investment plans and optimized portfolios.
By combining asset behaviour, risk, service levels, lifecycle policies, funding constraints and uncertainty analysis, Direxyon helps organizations answer questions such as:
- How much should we invest?
- Which projects should we prioritize?
- What are the consequences of deferring investments?
- What is the optimal portfolio under budget constraints?
- How confident are we that our plan will achieve the desired outcomes?
Direxyon does not replace your asset management system. It sits above it, leveraging existing data and institutional knowledge to create a transparent, auditable and repeatable investment decision framework.
Spreadsheets are great for one-time analysis. They struggle with:
- Modelling thousands of assets individually, each with its own aging curve
- Running probabilistic scenarios, “what if it floods?” “what if the budget gets cut 20%?”
- Keeping the model alive as your data, constraints, and priorities change
- Defending the result when someone asks to see your assumptions
We don’t replace the engineering judgment behind a good spreadsheet model — we encode it, digitize it, and make it permanent. So it scales across your entire portfolio, survives staff turnover, and stays auditable for every decision you’ll ever have to defend. ering judgment behind a good spreadsheet model, we encode it, scale it, and make it auditable.
We use AI in specific places: to fill data gaps (your records are rarely complete, and AI helps reconstruct realistic missing values) and to structure messy inputs (turning notes, inspection records, and unstructured data into something the model can use).
The decisions themselves come from explicit logic, Monte Carlo simulations to handle uncertainty, decision trees to mirror your team’s trade-offs. You can read every rule line by line.
So: AI handles the data plumbing. Analytics drive the decisions. Every recommendation is explainable.
Direxyon is not a dedicated ESG reporting platform — but it addresses something more fundamental: the asset-level analytics that make ESG narratives credible and defensible.
Modern integrated reporting frameworks recognize that organizations create value across six capitals — financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship, and natural. Infrastructure decisions touch all of them. A deferred rehabilitation isn’t just a budget decision — it’s a service reliability risk, a community impact, and a natural capital exposure. Direxyon models those trade-offs explicitly, across your full portfolio and over a 20-year horizon.
On the climate side, Direxyon supports spatial modeling of physical climate risks, climate-adjusted degradation curves, and prioritization of resilience investments — giving you the quantified, traceable outputs that feed corporate ESG and climate-disclosure obligations.
Because every parameter and assumption is fully visible in our glass-box model, the analytics don’t just support your reporting — they can withstand scrutiny from regulators, boards, and funding bodies.
For Cities
Cities face the same four problems everywhere: aging infrastructure, tight budgets, climate risk, and growing demand for services. And underneath all of them is the same pressure — maintaining acceptable service levels while spending less than the infrastructure actually needs.
Direxyon helps you navigate that gap:
- Define and model the service levels your community expects — and quantify the cost of maintaining, degrading, or improving them over time
- Lower the long-term total cost of your infrastructure by optimizing lifecycle strategies across every asset class
- Allocate capital across departments — parks, water, transit, buildings — on a common risk and value framework, so the hardest trade-offs become transparent and defensible
- Coordinate interventions across departments so you stop paying twice to dig up the same street
- Quantify the cost of deferral — what happens to service levels, risk exposure, and future budgets when investments get pushed
- Build the business case for climate-resilience investments, with numbers that hold up under scrutiny
Cities don’t fail because they lack data. They fail because they can’t turn that data into decisions their councils, regulators, and communities will stand behind. That’s what Direxyon is built for.
J’ai ajouté le service level comme fil conducteur dès l’intro, et une phrase de clôture qui repositionne la valeur globale. Tu veux garder cette conclusion ou rester sur une liste pure ?
Organizations using Direxyon typically reduce the long-term cost of their infrastructure by 10–30% — not by cutting service, but by making smarter sequencing decisions years before the pressure hits.
The biggest wins come from three places. First, financial: spotting investment spikes years in advance, avoiding repeat dig-twice projects, and shifting from costly emergency repairs to well-timed rehabilitation. Second, decisional: replacing gut-feel prioritization with a defensible, auditable logic that holds up in front of a council, a regulator, or a funding body. Third, organizational: breaking down silos between departments so capital is allocated where it creates the most value — not where it was last year.
The shift isn’t just in the numbers. It’s in the confidence behind every decision.
No. Mid-sized and smaller municipalities benefit just as much, often more, because they have less internal capacity to build this kind of modelling in-house. Direxyon GO is specifically designed for teams starting their AIP journey without a longer setup coming from a more complex governance structure and decision-making framework or larger organizations.
Yes, that’s a big reason cities use us. Because every recommendation is traceable, you can show exactly why a project is on the list, what it costs to delay it, and how it compares to other options. That changes the conversation from “can we afford this?” to “can we afford not to?”.
For Power Utilities
Power utilities face a convergence of pressures that no spreadsheet was built to handle: aging transmission and distribution assets, accelerating load growth from electrification and EV adoption, increasing climate exposure, and regulators demanding defensible investment plans.
Direxyon models each asset individually — poles, lines, transformers, substations, protection systems — with its own aging curve, failure probability, consequence of failure, and replacement cost. That granularity matters, because a failed substation serving a hospital is not the same decision as a failed line on a rural feeder.
The result is a portfolio-level investment strategy that explicitly balances reliability targets, CapEx and OpEx trade-offs, risk thresholds, and long-term load scenarios — giving your planning and regulatory teams a single, auditable model to work from, and a defensible answer to the hardest question in asset management: where does the next dollar go?
Yes. Many utilities use Direxyon to prepare rate cases and regulatory submissions, because the glass-box approach makes every dollar of capital request defensible. The platform’s custom-rules engine can be configured to reflect specific regulatory logic and reporting requirements.
Yes, we walk through them in a demo, since most include details our clients prefer not to publish.
Getting Set Up
Most clients have a working model for their first asset class within a few months, significantly faster than the 12-to-24-month implementation cycles common with other enterprise platforms in this space.
Direxyon GO is the fastest path: streamlined onboarding for teams starting their AIP journey. Direxyon Enterprise takes a bit longer because it involves configuring custom logic and rules, but is still markedly quicker than legacy alternatives.
You start with what you have. A typical set of inputs:
- An asset inventory (where things are, what they are, how old)
- Recent condition assessments or inspection records
- Historical maintenance and capital spend
- A sense of your typical project unit costs
Perfect data on day one isn’t required. We help you fill gaps over time, and the model gets sharper as the data does.
Most organizations’ data isn’t complete, and you don’t need to wait until it is. Direxyon uses AI to reconstruct realistic values for missing records and to structure unorganized inputs, so the model can run from day one.
Just as important, the platform shows you where better data would change the answer most, so improving data quality becomes a targeted investment, not an open-ended project.
No. We sit on top of the systems you already use, your GIS, your asset management system, your ERP. We connect to your data; we don’t ask you to migrate it.
No. The platform is designed for engineers, planners, and asset managers, not data teams. Because the model is transparent, anyone with infrastructure expertise can adjust assumptions and interpret results.

Pricing & Demo
Pricing depends on the size of your asset portfolio and which tier you choose, Direxyon GO for a streamlined start, or Direxyon Enterprise for advanced modelling. We usually begin with a focused first project (one asset class, or one decision you need to defend) and expand from there. For more information please book a call with one of our experts here (mettre nos contacts).
No, infrastructure decisions are too consequential for a self-serve trial to add value. Instead, we offer a discovery call where we walk through your specific situation and show you exactly what Direxyon would do with your data.
Yes. A scoped first project is the most common starting point. It gives you a working model on one asset class, a quantified business case, and a clear path to expand.
Direxyon is not on government vendor lists. We work regularly with government agencies, public utilities, and municipalities across North America, and engage through any standard procurement process, open RFP/RFI/RFQ, sole-source justification, cooperative purchasing arrangements, or pilot engagements.
